Linogravure, Lino Cut, Relief Printmaking.
I love adding new designs & motifs to my collection of relief prints. There's something rather therapeutic in carving away. There are two main collections, the Animals and the Decorative Series. I also use this technique to hand pattern frames & canvasses, using designs inspired by Nature, such as trailing leaves & flowers, Swahili carving, North African textiles & jewellery.
I first do my design on paper and then I transfer the image to the lino. I start to carve away anything that I do not want to print, leaving the design in relief ready for inking up. Finally I hand print the image onto sheets of Japanese Rice Paper, leaving it to dry completely before framing.
